Temple Grandin Designed Cattle Chute At Texas Tech Research Facility
As you see in this video clip, the cattle chute at Texas Tech Agricultural Laboratories Headquarters Receiving Cattle Station is where cattle are weighed for research projects. This chute was designed by Temple Grandin (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Temple_Grandin) who was singularly instrumental in helping the cattle industry reduce cattle stress and injury during the slaughter process. Reducing stress is also important because the hormones associated with increase stress can effect the flavor and toughness of meat. This is a largely unpublished, extended clip from the 30 minute documentary we did as part of our partnership with SARE: Water Scarcity For Farmers on the Texas High Plains ua-cam.com/video/cWVhEwaikpA/v-deo.html

Can Organic Agriculture Feed The World? -Fred Kirschenmann
Переглядів 4 тис.4 роки тому
Fred Kirschenmann challenges the notion that organic farming cannot feed the world, arguing that it's not about yields but about access to food, sustainable practices, and efficient use of resources. HMMMMM!!! old guy here.... I'd like to add to your info!!! When training Anything to lead, cows included... It's !00% about the pressure you put on the rope and WHEN you release it !! You will succeed very quickly IF... When they pull, the pressure is maintained steady and they get NO "reward" (or release of pressure).... BUT !!!! if the animal steps towards the pressure it is VERY IMPORTANT that the pressure is instantly released! (as a reward) Watch their feet VERY closely! The instant you see the intent to step forward slack the rope!! and afirm with your "low calm gentle voice" gooood girl... after a short wait... "come cow" and gently increasing pressure, watching the feet VERY CLOSELY for an instant release when she gives to the pressure. WHY would she lead if it makes no difference to the pressure??? In time if you gently waggle the rope "come cow" and walk... you wont need to pull at all.. IF she pulls maintain steady firm pressure and use your "angry voice" AAAHHHH!! until she stops.. then ease pressure a bit not completely and change voices "come cow" and watch the feet.... lessons should be short and not more than 15 mins and definitely end on a positive win... good girl off you go!! pat pat! Your welcome!

I think it's coming back but the idea of actual family farms is a thing of antiquity. I have often thought it strange that many of our children's books center around farms and farm animals and yet you don't really see that much anymore. Like I said I think it is coming back and in certain places like Tennessee and Texas especially

I will never understand why they wanted to make milk not separate? It was so fun to stick a knife through the cream at the top of the bottle and use the cream in your coffee etc it's not like it's a ton of work to deal with the cream!

Can someone please explain to me why people put so so so so so so much effort into making people afraid so that they can do more work to process our food and keep it processed????? Why don't they just capitalize on the direction that the people want to go in which is more natural and more health?? Why don't they just give the people what they want instead of putting so much work and money into giving us what we don't want?? I don't get it. Actually yes, I can see why big pharma might be an advocate for the stuff that's unnatural because it's bad for you and they can capitalize on sick people. I say that unprocessed milk will be less work but I guess that's not true either because they can simply treat their cattle like cattle and not care one lick about them and how they are doing health-wise so I guess it is a great advantage financially to not take care of the cow and just pasteurize the milk!!! It's evil evil evil and this kind of stuff makes me wonder why people don't believe in Satan

There are better, faster methods. A pretty messy approach . There are ways to cut tuna and not soak the meat in constant contact with slime, guts and scales. Spraying the meat down with water is not the solution. I supposed that must for for canned tuna.

According to a quick search humans have been drinking raw cow milk for 9,000 years, but ALL OF A SUDDEN in the last few years raw milk is the most toxic substance known to mankind. Fascinating. I cannot believe people think there is even a debate to be had on this subject, either 9,000 years of history and precedent is wrong or this new age science is wrong (read: has an agenda).

5th generation dairy farmer. I'll be 40 this year, and I've drank raw milk my entire life. I can't stand pasteurized milk. Too thin and doesn't taste right. I make my own butter too. The milk plant dropped me last June, claiming my overall herd SSC was over 500,000 for two month. My DHIA test sheets showed not one of my cows was that high. The plant was either tampering with my samples or intentionally changing the numbers just to get rid of me. There is supposedly so much milk. That some companies are having the producers dump their milk. We tried several other milk companies and no one will take on any new dairies. My milk inspector told me a California dairy moved to SD to get away from all the rules & regulations. If no milk plant can take on any small dairies, how can they take on a 10,000+ cow dairy? By getting rid of all the little producers like me. There are 3 dairy farms left in the county because of us little guys getting screwed over. I still have several cows and milk. And a couple people get milk and butter from me. I will always have cows, no matter what.

I was trained that, "No symptoms, no treatment." So, I may consume some plants if I think they will treat my illness, but I don't want to take meds every day for the rest of my life. To me, all this info just reinforces my belief that we should not eat plants ( unless you ae ill). I believe many illnesses are being caused by plants we eat. For example, almost any house plant you can think of is known to be toxic.

I agree we need laws to prompt food producers to list the nutritional values of foods but also the natural toxins in the foods. As you say plants produce insecticides and repellents for their protection but where are those defense compounds when we eat those plants? And, if garlic, for example, is a medicine, what is a safe dose? Do we need to take this medicine for the rest of our lives and what are the side effects, etc.?
